Fur Roach Music is incredibly proud to be the home of LooNurGooSe and element66. Both of which are recorded and produced at the Oregon State Penitentiary. The power of creativity is an emotional expression that can help heal the psychological damage that comes from being incarcerated and locked away from friends and family. Recording and releasing music is a way for these imprisoned artists to reach out and share a piece of themselves with the world.
Creative people tend to wither and die when they become stagnant, and living in the dark trenches of the prison system is a guaranteed way for that creative light to be extinguished.
America has more people incarcerated than anywhere else in the world. Warehousing humans in tiny boxes and treating them as slaves isn’t a solution, it’s an extension of societal problems. The sad reality is that prisons in America are overflowing with talented people that have no outlet to share their artistic vision.
Our approach is to rehabilitate through creativity and wash away the negative misconception that prison life revolves around violence.
It’s absolutely amazing what someone can accomplish when given the opportunity. When someone feels appreciated by the community, they are more likely to become a positive contributor to that community upon their release.

Chad Hamlin’s eccentric expression of musical art has significant levels of abstract soundscapes that showcase the experimental side of his audio production techniques. This is especially apparent with the ‘LooNurGooSe’ release, ‘Spitting Noodles’.

When it comes to LooNurGooSe, you can always count on discovering the unexpected. Chad Hamlin (the creator of LooNurGooSe) shines a light on the human species as simply being the ‘Two Legged’, with an invitation for us all, to walk together.
The ‘Two Legged’ recording project was inspired by one of my College Professors at Chemeketa Community College. Dr. Leo, thank you for teaching me that, “You are my other self. If I hurt you, I hurt myself. If I love, and respect you, I love and respect myself.” Dr. Leo, you’re a one of a kind. You inspired my muse, and for that; I thank you.
