In keeping with the element66 tradition of releasing new music for the All Hallows Eve celebration, Chad Hamlin and Kenneth Fisher have put together a new album titled Voodoo Doll. This 16-song collection is comprised of seven new songs, along with eight of the most influential singles released by element66. This collection also includes a classical piece of music that, up until now, was only available on the self-titled element66 CD.
Three of the new songs feature the extremely gifted singer-song writer Aaron Kraft. Aaron’s songwriting techniques and vocal style added a new dynamic to the ever-expanding multidimensional foundation of element66.
The classical piece of music, Flight of The Bumblebee was originally written by classical composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Chad’s been obsessed with the technical aspects of classical music for as long as he’s been writing music, and he wanted to put a modern electronic spin on one of the most technically sophisticated pieces of classical music of all time. Once again, element66 has proven that they have no boundaries when it comes to creativity as they pay tribute to a timeless piece of classical music by recreating it as an electronic piece of audio art for future generations to appreciate.
Also found amongst this collection is one of the wackiest songs by element66 titled VOODOO DOUGHNUTS. The music used for this song has gotten around like a busy overly worked prostitute hitting every street corner in town. The music was originally introduced as an instrumental song titled ‘Fill The Cup’ from Chad’s other recording project called LooNurGooSe. ‘Fill The Cup,’ can be found on the LooNurGooSe demo album titled ‘Code Name Jabberwocky.’ The ‘Fill The Cup’ music was recycled and become part of the element66 ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ album, when it was used for the song titled ‘Sperm Philanthropist’. At the time, ‘Sperm Philanthropist’ was by far the most oddball element66 song ever released. The regurgitation didn’t stop there, new life has yet again spawned from the old. The latest reincarnation of the music has given the lyrics of VOODOO DOUGHNUTS a friendly place to call home. This song is dedicated to the coolest Doughnut Shop in the World. VOODOO DOUGHNUT is the most bizarre and creative Doughnut shop on the planet, and it was their outlandish wackiness that inspired Chad to give birth to the strangest element66 song yet. Keeping Portland, Oregon Weird is a full-time job, so if you happen to visit VOODOO DOUGHNUT, order a bakers dozen of the cream filled cock & balls, and tell ‘em element66 sent you.
