Distilled Madness

As sanity slips through my tenuous grasp
It pools at my feet on the floor
Ever expanding, until it’s an ocean
I’m lost like a ship in the storm
When I rise from the depths of sub-sonic dementia
I surface in misery and pain
So I quickly revert to more primitive instincts
My lower reptilian brain
Realities alternate as I sideslip through time
The snake eats its tail while the blind feed the blind
Assimilation achieved, I fall into the fold
The future is history and the past was foretold
So deeply embedded was my mental imbalance
That the doctors said it couldn’t be cured
I took a knife and a chisel and cut out my cortex
And all the thoughts that I drool now are pure
But esoteric agendas still cling to the cobwebs
In the back of what’s left of my mind
A pale apparition; I lay on the ceiling
I’m a glitch in the master’s design
Realities alternate as I sideslip through time
The snake eats its tail while the blind feed the blind
Assimilation achieved, I fall into the fold
The future is history and the past was foretold
My madness casts shadows that dance all around me
My lunacy burns from within
The demons at home said they’re worried about me
They dress in my family’s skins
I dragged them down to the basement and peeled off the skin-suits
Ignoring their human-like cries
But the thing in the mirror is constantly watching;
I’m afraid that he’s one of their spies
