‘Witch Hunt’ comes to the surface as a Valentine’s Day release, but it isn’t the typical collection of love songs that you would expect to turn up on this romantic holiday. It is a disturbing six-song collection that explores the loss of rational thought stemming from the all-consuming power of love and the heartbreak that usually follows in its wake. As always, Chad Hamlin and Erik Libbert have unleashed something as completely original as it is unusual.

Dead Inside –
It is often said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, but what would you see if you came face-to-face with the vacant stare of a madman? ‘Dead Inside’ offers a brief glimpse into the mind behind the cold, dead eyes of a sadistic sociopath. Will you see the warning signs that flash in his eyes or will you fall into his trap?

NUMB3RS (Featuring Jeremy Metelak) –
Today’s social media has given the masses a platform from which to express their emotions and opinions. Some would call this empowering and say that it’s a good thing, but many people have become so focused on their internet presence that a digital footprint might be the only thing that they leave behind.

As more and more people become obsessed with showcasing the trivial and mundane aspects of their mediocre lives, they log out of reality and into the cyber-world, becoming nothing more than numbers in the machine.

In keeping with our tradition of featuring a guest vocalist, we once again invited Jeremy Metelak to participate on this project with us. We handed him the reins and let him run with it. Jeremy not only wrote the lyrics and sang this brutally honest song, he also did all of his own vocal mixing. The finished product turned out to be one of the most powerful LooNurGooSe collaborations yet. We’re sure that NUMB3RS will impress you as much as it impressed us.

Six Seasons Below –
Incarceration is a cruel form of punishment because it takes away the one thing that can never be regained: Time.

More often than not, the justice system is unconcerned with the circumstances that led up to the commission of a crime. In cases involving crimes of passion, this can lead to one person being held solely accountable while another is completely absolved of all responsibility for their role in causing a tragic situation to occur.

These conditions provide the perfect setting for the incubation of blame and resentment, which when given ample time to fester, can blossom into a dark desire for retribution.

The Blue –
Blue is the color of the crippling, debilitating depression that often smothers people in the wake of painful break-ups. Struggling to cope with feelings of hopelessness and abandonment, it can be difficult to find the motivation to pick one’s self up and move on after a separation.

This song tells the story of someone who finds themself in this situation and is contemplating the ultimate escape, a permanent solution to end the pain.

A Trial By Water – A Trial By Fire –
It is often said that in the American Legal System, people are considered innocent until proven otherwise beyond reasonable doubt. For those who have endured the process of a criminal trial, however, and been subjected to the inflammatory, exaggerated, and often untrue accusations put forth by the prosecution for the sole purpose of persuading a jury to hand down a guilty verdict, these words begin to seem hollow.

When you add to this the shocking headlines and fear-mongering used by the media to draw in viewers, along with the circus-like atmosphere that this can create, it often seems that innocence or guilt is a secondary concern and that the only thing that truly matters is the accusation itself.

This calls to mind the hysteria-driven witch hunts that occurred in the colonial days of this nation and some of the tactics used by these early accusers to elicit confessions from the accused. Two of our personal favorites include trials by water and trials by fire.

Somebody That I Used To Know (We’ll Meet Again In Hell) –
We at LooNurGooSe have really embraced our track six tradition of creating original renditions of other people’s songs that have inspired us in the past.

Taking a song that we love and making it our own by tweaking the music and modifying the lyrics to alter the message has always been an enjoyable process. Until now.

With Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know,’ we have taken a quirky break-up song and turned it into something mean and nasty. Our version has a very specific message for a very specific person. This used to be one of her favorite songs. I wonder how she likes it now.

Here it is, the first LooNurGooSe release of 2019, submitted for your approval: ‘Witch Hunt.’
